LWV_WebLogo__r470x260The League of Women Voters of Northampton County is sponsoring a Candidates’ Forum on Wednesday, October 1 at 7:00 p.m. until 8:15 p.m. at the Forks Township Administration Building located at 1606 Sullivan Trail in Forks Township.

Representative Mario Scavello, Republican, and Mr. Mark Aurand, Democrat, are the candidates vying for the new 40th Senatorial District that includes the upper tier of Northampton County and the lower tier of Monroe County. In Northampton County, the new district includes: Allen Township, Bangor, Bath, Bushkill Township, Chapman, East Allen Township, East Bangor, Forks Township, Hanover Township, Lehigh Township, Lower Mt. Bethel Township, Lower Nazareth Township, Moore Township, Nazareth, Pen Argyl, Plainfield Township, Portland, Roseto, Upper Mt. Bethel Township, Upper Nazareth Township, Washington Township, and Wind Gap.

Representative Scavello has served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 176th Legislative District in the 2013-14 legislative session. Mr. Aurand’s work has been as an attorney representing small businesses. Each candidate will have time on October first to give their ideas on how they would handle matters such as fracking, infrastructure needs, property taxes and school funding.
