Meet the Staff

Bill Halbfoerster, Editor (Since 1955)

He started working on The Home News back in 1946 at the age of 16, setting type by hand. After serving in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, Bill took over as editor when the former editor, Rev. Reginald Helfferich, left in 1955 to serve as executive church of Church World Service. Bill’s job is more than an editor; he continues to serve as a reporter and photographer for the Bath, Nazareth, and Northampton area at the age of 84. He looks forward to serving our readers’ needs for many years to come.

Joe Korba, Associate Publisher

Joe-Korba-new-150x150Journalism was the obvious career choice for me, given my interests in politics, current affairs and writing (and my atrocious mathematical abilities). After graduating Weatherly High School, I attended Pennsylvania College of Technology where I honed my skills, earned an A.A. in Communications and worked for the Red Cross in Williamsport doing public relations. After a short digression at Kutztown University for a couple semesters studying political science, I received my B.A. in Journalism from Bloomsburg University. Post college, I did some freelance reporting for the Times Leader, a daily newspaper in Wilkes-Barre, while living in Mountain Top, Pa. I moved to Lehighton in 2010 with my lovely fiancé, Jessica. I began to work at the Town & Country Gazette the next year and continue on my everlasting journey to become a better writer and make a living doing it.
